The Waste HierarchyThe waste hierarchy is used to ensure that post-consumer timber and wood products are managed against the following priorities: 1. Reduce Reduce the amount of waste generated from the manufacture and use of timber and wood products. 2. Recovery for reuse, recycling or renewable energy Increase recovery for reuse, recycling and renewable energy, consistent with the most economic efficient and environmentally sustainable use of the recovered timber and wood products. 3. Removal and carbon storage Removal and long-term storage of carbon within the timber and wood products, in the most environmentally responsible manner.
